Intermediate Sewing Class- Saturday 26th July 2025- 10am - 3pm
Take Your Sewing to the Next Level – Intermediate Sewing Class at The Remnant Warehouse
Are you still fairly new to sewing and eager to build your skills? Or have you been making garments for a while but feel stuck with results that still look a bit “home-made”? Uneven seams, puckered hems, and misaligned pieces don’t have to be the norm!
This intermediate class is designed to help you move past those common frustrations. With a few new techniques and some expert guidance, you’ll be amazed at the difference in your sewing projects.
Join experienced teacher Mouna Stone, who brings over 30 years of sewing experience and a passion for handmade craftsmanship. Mouna has spent decades perfecting a variety of sewing techniques and adapting them to suit different fabrics, styles, and finishes.
In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn:
- How to choose the right fabric and interfacing for your garments
- Selecting appropriate needles, threads, and haberdashery for different materials
- How to insert zippers, create placket closures, and sew buttonholes by hand and machine
- Advanced seam finishes, hems, and fastening techniques for a polished look
- Optional couture and vintage techniques to give your work a unique, high-end finish
- Tips for adjusting commercial patterns to better fit your body
- Best practices for laying out, marking, and cutting patterns efficiently
- Handy mending techniques tailored to different fabrics
This class is ideal for those who are comfortable using a sewing machine and ready to build on their foundational skills. If you’ve taken our Beginner’s Sewing Class, or have similar experience, this is a great next step!
This stand-alone class will consist of a 5 hour session (with a 30 minute lunch break included). Saturday 26th July 2025.
While there won’t be time to complete a full garment in one day, you’ll work on a small project using quarter-scale patterns designed to boost your confidence and prepare you for more advanced sewing.
What to Bring:
- Your sewing machine (with all accessories and foot pedal) in good working order
- Basic sewing kit: scissors, thread snips, pins, hand-sewing needles, thread, seam ripper, etc.
(If you're missing anything, our shop stocks all essentials—and students get a 10% discount on class day!)
Fabrics will be provided, but if you’d like to bring some scraps from your own stash and sew sustainably, feel free!
This class is designed for adults (minimum 16 years of age) of all gender expressions to continue building your sewing skills and take your projects to the next level.
To make the most of your time in the class, we recommend coming to class prepared.
